Norava Inc., doing business as Norava and Pawversa (“Norava,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operates norava.ca and the related store features, customer accounts, purchase options, support channels, and brand collections described in this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Services”). Pawversa is a brand of Norava Inc., not a separate data controller, unless a notice presented to you expressly says otherwise.
Shopify hosts the online store and processes personal information to provide and improve Shopify-powered commerce services. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we use it, when we disclose it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights available to you. Where consent is required, you may withdraw it subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using and accessing any of the Services, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy and understand the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described here. If there is a conflict between our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy, this Privacy Policy controls with respect to the collection, processing, and disclosure of your personal information.
Personal Information We Collect or Process
When we use the term “personal information,” we mean information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to you or another person. Depending on how you interact with the Services, we may collect or process the following categories, including inferences drawn from them:
- Contact details including your name, billing address, shipping address, phone number, and email address.
- Financial information including payment card information, transaction details, form of payment, and payment confirmation. Complete card details are processed by our payment providers.
- Account information including your username, password, preferences, and settings.
- Transaction information including the items you view, add to your cart or wishlist, purchase, return, exchange, or cancel, and your past transactions.
- Communications with us including information you include when you contact customer support.
- Device and usage information including your device, browser, network connection, IP address, other unique identifiers, and how and when you interact with the Services.
- Purchase-option information including subscription selection, renewal date, delivery frequency, skips, pauses, cancellations, payment-token status, and subscription communications, where you use a recurring or deferred purchase option.
- Pet-profile information including pet name, species, breed, age or life stage, size, weight range, dietary preferences, sensitivities, allergies, and toy preferences that you voluntarily provide so we can tailor a pet product or box. Please do not provide veterinary records or unnecessary sensitive information. Pet-profile information can reveal information about the owner and is handled as personal information when it can reasonably be linked to an individual.
- Customer-content information including reviews, photographs, videos, social-media handles, contest entries, survey responses, and permissions associated with user-generated content.
Personal Information Sources
We may collect personal information directly from you; automatically through the Services, including through cookies and similar technologies; from our service providers who process information on our behalf; and from our partners or other third parties.
How We Use Your Personal Information
- Provide, tailor, and improve the Services — to perform our contract with you, process payments, fulfil and ship orders, manage returns and exchanges, maintain your account, remember your preferences, enable reviews, and create a customized shopping experience.
- Marketing and advertising — to send communications and show advertisements as permitted by applicable law.
- Security and fraud prevention — to authenticate accounts, secure payments, and detect or investigate fraudulent, unsafe, or unlawful activity.
- Communicating with you — to provide customer support and maintain our relationship with you.
- Legal reasons — to comply with applicable law and valid legal process and to enforce our terms and policies.
We use pet-profile and purchase-option information only to administer the requested product or service, personalize eligible contents, manage recurring orders, provide safety or recall communications, prevent fraud, provide support, improve our offerings using aggregated or de-identified insights, and meet legal obligations. We do not represent that a product recommendation is veterinary advice, and we do not use pet-profile information to diagnose or treat an animal.
How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose your personal information to third parties for legitimate purposes subject to this Privacy Policy, including:
- With Shopify and other vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as IT and hosting, payment processing, data analytics, customer support, cloud storage, order fulfilment, and shipping.
- With business and marketing partners to provide marketing services and advertise to you, in accordance with their own privacy notices. Depending on where you reside, you may have a right to direct us not to share information about you for targeted advertising.
- When you direct, request, or consent to disclosure, such as to ship you products or through social media or login integrations.
- With our affiliates or otherwise within our corporate group.
- In connection with a business transaction such as a merger, financing, or reorganization, to comply with legal obligations, and to protect or defend our rights and the rights of others.
We maintain a current list of the categories of recipients that receive personal information and the choices available to you. We do not disclose personal information to a recipient that is not described by these categories, and where the law requires it, we provide a functioning opt-out or privacy-choices mechanism.
Relationship with Shopify
The Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal information about your access to and use of the Services in order to provide and improve them. Information you submit may be transmitted to and shared with Shopify and third parties that may be located in countries other than where you reside. To learn more about how Shopify uses your personal information and the rights you may have, you can visit the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and the Shopify Privacy Portal.
Marketing and Communication Choices
Transactional messages about an order, subscription, safety notice, recall, account, or support case are not promotional messages. Marketing email or text messages are sent only as permitted by applicable law. You may unsubscribe using the method in the message; doing so will not stop necessary transactional communications. Consent to marketing is not a condition of purchase.
Children's Data
The Services are intended for individuals who can lawfully enter into a purchase in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the age at which they can provide valid consent without authorization. If you believe a child provided personal information improperly, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where required.
Security and Retention of Your Information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide the Services, maintain transaction and tax records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, enforce agreements, honour suppression choices, and meet legal obligations. Retention periods vary by record type. When information is no longer required, we delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it, subject to backup cycles and legal holds.
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will report and notify as required by applicable law, and we maintain breach records as required.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, delete, or correct your personal information, to receive a copy or request portability, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information or its use for targeted advertising. If you reside in the UK or European Economic Area, you may also have rights to object to or restrict processing and to withdraw consent. These rights are not absolute and may apply only in certain circumstances. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them, and we may verify your identity before responding.
International Transfers
We may transfer, store, and process your personal information outside the country you live in. If we transfer personal information out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on recognized transfer mechanisms such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, unless the destination country provides an adequate level of protection.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will post the revised Privacy Policy, update the “Last updated” date, and provide notice as required by applicable law.
